After a loooonnnngggg day of bussing I arrived at Iracambí! After taking the taxi this morning, I took a bus to Muriaé. That bus ride was about 6 hours long and took me across about 200 miles of Brazil. Looking out the window during that time was very interesting, but also quite depressing. So much land is cleared, leaving only lime-green grass and red scars in the earth. In Muriaé, I had to wait for an hour and a half in the bus terminal. Then, I took the bus to Rosário da Limeira. That busride lasted about an hour, and by the time I arrived, it was completely dark. Finding a taxi in the town square at night was a bit scary, but once I found one, he drove me quickly on the dirt roads to Iracambí. There, I met a few of the volunteers and had dinner: rice and beans, which I absolutely love and have been looking forward to for months. Showering after such a long journey was very refreshing, and now I am tired and ready for bed. Although they do not have mosquito nets or screens here, I put up my net, and will ask them about the situation tomorrow. My phone is still refusing to upload any pictures other than the one above, so I will post more pictures from my computer tomorrow.
